Introduction to Shotguns

In Dead Frontier 2, shotguns deliver massive headshot damage. Shotguns are generally designed for close quarters combat due to their spread shot, but they can also be useful at longer ranges due to the high chance to hit the enemy with at least a single pellet and the rather tight shot spread, although it is not advisable to do so. Every well-aimed shotgun pellet adds up to the total damage per shot, but then again you could also do very little damage if too few pellets hit the target. And so, always go up and close to your target to maximise damage.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages

  • Shotguns have a huge headshot damage even for low level shotguns, making this gun suitable for the "Head Hunter" perk.
  • Great body damage per hit.
  • Great knockback distance.

Disadvantages

  • They have the smallest ammo box (20 per box).
  • Limited range.
  • Slow aim time (can be fixed with "Marksman").
  • Long reload time (can be fixed with "Reloading").
  • Low clip size.

An Italian-made tactical combat shotgun. SPAS stands for Special Purpose Automatic Shotgun, where the shotgun can be used either in pump-action mode or semi-automatic mode. However, in DF2 the firing rate is dependent on the player's skill tree. Regardless, it's 12 gauge round is more than sufficient enough to blast the zombie's head into minced spaghetti.
